For European guests the time difference is small or none, flight times are around 12 hours, for many nationalities a visa is not needed, infrastructure is good. Its location on the Southern hemisphere means that during winter time you fly into the summer. Add to all this the stunning, exotic nature, world famous wines and much more. Location
It is located on a 35 hectare Bushveld farm, about 100 km from Johannesburg and 50 km from Pretoria, bordering the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve. Map The big five game animals are the African lion (Panthera leo), African elephant (Loxodonta africana), Cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer), White/Black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) and either African leopard (Panthera pardus) or Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) which are regarded to be the most difficult ones to hunt on foot.
Accommodation
The SunEden resort offers various types of accommodation available for visitors:
Well-equipped self-catering chalets which sleep up to eight people. The thatched roofs not only create a cosy atmosphere; the chalets are comfortably cool in summer and warm in winter.
We recommend for your stay the Baobab chalet, which underwent a thorough renovation this year. The new features include brand new patio furniture seating eight persons, a new sound system in the living room, a dishwasher, and much more. With four well appointed bedrooms, each one with its private shower and bathroom it provides luxury accommodation for four couples. Three bedrooms are on the first floor, each one having its own entrance to the upper level wooden deck where you can also enjoy the comfortable sun loungers.
On the ground floor there is a large kitchen combined with a living room. A new en-suite bedroom with its own entrance is also situated on the ground floor. On the terrace there is a charcoal grill, an indispensable piece of Southafrican household equipment. A weekend without "braai" - a Southafrican name for B-B-Q - is not a weekend :-) You can check out the ground floor plan here and the first floor here.
The Caravan Park at SunEden boasts with year-round green lawns, plenty of shady trees, communal kitchen, comfortable ablutions, electricity points and facilities which will satisfy all your camping requirements. The "braais" are of course at your disposal both in the Caravan park and at the pool side.
Equipment
There is a reception, restaurant, a bar, swimming pool and a well equipped shop. Choose from one out of four fire places for your barbecue.
Meals
You can relax around the swimming pool area or enjoy your drink in the well-stocked bar. You can play pool or darts, watch DSTV on the big screen. There is a restaurant which serves light meals during the day and early evening. A convenience store with supplies of almost anything a visitor might need is located within the resort.
Entertainment
There is a lovely swimming pool in the resort. You can join various evening events, such as karaoke nights, theme party events or you can simply sit at the fire place with your friends and beloved ones and share your life and travel stories. Don't miss out on the unique opportunity to see the wildlife and explore the wildlife around you (trekking routes) or book a trip to Dinokeng park. Experience the authentic Africa. There are over 100 species of birds, numerous kinds of trees and flowers, cosy cottages with regular entertainment in Boma.
Beach
The resort is inland (the warm Indian Ocean just about 600km away), so there is no beach but there is a swimming pool you can use.
